Fellow Lopezians,
I’m excited to announce an exceptional music experience coming to Lopez Island on Friday, May 30th. Local resident and drumming legend, Ben Smith, has gathered a few of his friends and fellow musicians to perform a benefit concert of lively Funk and Blues for our local community.

Introducing The SmithTones!

Michael Jaap, Keys and vocals
Mike has performed and recorded with such Blues and R&B legends as Jonell Mosser, Elvin Bishop, Lee Oscar, B.B. King, Robert Cray, The Temptations, The Neville Brothers, the “Godfather of Soul” James Brown and more.

Jon Bayless, Bass
Jon toured with the band Heart from 1995 - 1999 as well as tours with Greg Tripp and Elaine Summers. He is also well known for his regional performances including Toast, 7 Deep, Chapter 5 and Dreamwreck.

Rod Cook, Guitar and Vocals
Rod is an award winning Seattle area guitarist and vocalist known for his stylistic versatility, soulful, melodic playing and smooth vocal style. He has worked with a variety of bands including his own trio Rod Cook & Toast, the Dusty 45’s, Ron Bailey and the Tangents, The Royals, Lily Wilde, backed up Taj Mahal, and a 15 year run playing and recording with Laura Love.

Ben Smith, Drums

This benefit concert is to assist in the fundraising for our Lopez Community Tennis and Pickleball courts which is scheduled to be refurbished late this August. Our community courts are used regularly by local islanders, their guests and is a big draw to visitors of all ages looking for recreational activities on Lopez. Our courts are 100% funded by local donations. For more information, please visit https://lictaorg.wixsite.com/website-1
