If you've ever met Jerry, or even if you haven't and you hear his name, a big smile follows. Jerry is spirited, positive, good humored, and always has a smile, a story to share, and energy to help another. Jerry easily connects with people, with humor, calmness, compassion, patience, and discernment. He is dependable, reliable, and selfless in his service to others.

Retired police officer and probation officer, Jerry's duty to serve humanity continues with 20-25+ hours/weekly of volunteerism on Lopez. He currently serves Lopez Fit, helping at the front desk and stand-in coaching; Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to Seniors including on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and even snowy days; and Island Rides, giving folks rides to appointments, on and off island, and helping to run errands. Jerry has also volunteered for the Family Resource Center, behind the scenes helping with maintenance in the past. In addition, he helps his friends and neighbors with minor home repair, and pet care. Jerry is not afraid to offer physical and emotional support to another with a kind heart.

Jerry is truly a people-person and is a true model of the Lopez Spirit Award, dedicated, caring, and giving tirelessly to our Lopez community!

Bring a dessert to share if you'd like but not necessary.

Let's celebrate Jerry!

This year's celebration will feature a special voluntarism section. Several local non-profits will be providing information for how you can get involved too!
